After graduating from the American Studies program at Columbia and a brief stint living in Asheville, North Carolina, Andrew returned to New England to research northern country music traditions. In addition to directing and co-producing The Eventful Life of Al Hawkes, Andrew has produced oral history and archival projects for Spindleworks Art Center, provided technical support for the Bluegrass Music Pioneers of Maine video oral history, and worked as a consultant for the Franco-American Collection at the University of Southern Maine. Originally from the Ohio River Valley, Alyce graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and then moved to Maine in 2004. She works as an artist mentor at the Spindleworks Art Center in Brunswick and has released several recordings of music on Portland’s l’animaux tryst label. As the editor for The Eventful Life of Al Hawkes, Alyce focused on utilizing dozens of hours of archival film and audio from a wide variety of sources to illustrate the story of Event Records and Maine country music. She is a board member of the Maine Arts Commission Traditional Arts Committee.
